RUMBLE is a new series of live music events powered by Sonic Boom Music CIC, curated by local musicians to take the spirit of Sonic Boom Festival and spread it throughout the year. Sonic Boom Music CIC wants to help make Burton-upon-Trent a true Music Town; celebrating the incredible local and regional talent that exists here and putting new, original music back on the radar for music lovers across the town. This show brings together two legendary Burton bands who have shaped the regional music scene for years, alongside an exciting up-and-coming local singer-songwriter at the very start of his musical journey. Star From Ivy Star From Ivy are a Burton-based rock four-piece; Chris Baldwin, Daniel Baker, Steve Gibbs, and Mark Maczkowski, who have been performing across the UK since 2001. One of their most ambitious and celebrated projects is Circularity, an innovative online album project. Supported by its own dedicated website, the project explored themes of the circular economy, peace, empathy, compassion, and unity, while also confronting darker subjects such as war and depression. The album’s audio stems were released open source on a Creative Commons license, inspiring remixes and collaborations from musicians around the world, and later evolved into the Circularity.org community project; applying the concept of circularity in practical ways to benefit local communities. Live, Star From Ivy are an electrifying and unpredictable experience. Their performances often feature extended versions of album tracks, improvisation, and mash-ups – you never quite know what’s coming, but it always leaves a smile on your face. Swift Flasby Swift Flasby are another Burton-based band, formed in the late 2000s by four friends driven by a love of classic rock ’n’ roll and simple, catchy songwriting. Throughout the late 2000s and 2010s, they built a strong reputation across the Midlands for their high-energy half-hour sets, playing frequent shows and developing a loyal following; particularly in Birmingham. Since then, band members have continued writing and performing in a range of successful projects, including Exile 84, Andy Crowe & the Eisen Family, and Missing Diamonds. This gig marks an exciting reunion, bringing Swift Flasby back to the stage with all the energy and classic songs that made them a must-see live band. This is one not to miss. Ashton Spiby-Wood Ashton Spiby-Wood is a 19-year-old singer-songwriter from Burton who began his musical journey just two years ago, starting out at open mics performing covers of his favourite artists. As his confidence grew, Ashton began writing and performing his own original material, drawing influence from Oasis, Sam Fender, The Beatles, Stereophonics, James Morrison, and Arctic Monkeys. He now has a growing catalogue of songs ready to be recorded and has already released his debut single, “All I Want Is You.” His sets balance upbeat, energetic tracks with catchy riffs alongside calmer, more reflective songs inspired by his own experiences and the stories of those around him.
