The National Forest Adventure Farm Needs You!

The National Forest Adventure Farm, Burton on Trent is looking for teams to enter the sixth annual Agri-lympics Charity Team Event to be held on 3 August 2013. Participants should bring along a healthy dose of good humour, a willingness to get dirty, look silly and a high degree of sportsmanship! Teams compete in a range of farm themed events, including Tractor Pull, Hay Bale Heft and Tug ‘O’ War, to be crowned the 2013 Agri-lympics winners and receive the coveted Golden Welly Trophy.

agrilympicsThis year’s charity beneficiary is the Teenage Cancer Trust. The charity’s vision is a future where young people’s lives don’t stop because they have cancer. Teenage Cancer Trust makes sure they’re treated as young people first, cancer patients second and everything the charity does aims to improve their quality of life and chances of survival. All monies raised at the Agri-lympics will go to Teenage Cancer Trust supported wards at Queen Elizabeth Young Person Hospital in Birmingham, Leicester Royal Infirmary and Nottingham City Hospital.

The charity is a cause close to the heart of Adventure Farm Director Tom Robinson. Ben Murphy, a family friend and previous Agri-lympics competitor, is currently being treated for osteosarcoma at Queen Elizabeth Young Person Hospital in Birmingham. The Farm is also donating £1 for each paying customer who visits the Farm on Saturday 3 August.

Tom Robinson, Director comments: “It is fantastic that the National Forest Adventure Farm is able to contribute to Teenage Cancer Trust and help others in Ben’s position. The Agri-lympics event is great fun for those who enter and we’re hoping for more teams this year to break our fundraising record.”
