Today (Tuesday 13th November) East Staffordshire Borough Council is launching its annual Sport Scholarship Awards.

Following the resounding success of this summer’s Olympics and Paralympics Games, Elite Sports performers are being encouraged to apply for the 2013 Sport Scholarship Awards.

ESBC is continuing to support local community groups and projects with funding, which can also be awarded to Elite Sports performers to help them with training and competition costs, to assist them in achieving full national, international and Olympic honours.

Awards will be presented in the following categories: Junior and Senior Team, Coach, Junior Volunteer, Administrator, Disabled Performer, Junior Sports Person, Sports Person and Sports Unsung Hero

Application forms are now available for the East Staffordshire Sport Scholarship Awards, which offer a way of recognising and celebrating the success of local elite athletes and coaches within the Borough.

Hard copies of the forms can also be picked up from local Leisure Centres, and the Customer Service Centres. Deadline for applications and nominations is Monday, January 14th, 2013.

Chief Executive of East Staffordshire Borough Council, Andy O’Brien said: “East Staffordshire is proud to boast a wealth of sporting talent and the annual awards provide the ideal opportunity to celebrate the various individuals, teams and clubs achievements and build on the Olympic Legacy of 2012.”

Outstanding contributions to sport in East Staffordshire will be recognised at the Annual East Staffordshire Borough Council Sport Scholarship Awards on Thursday, March 21st, 2013 at Burton Albion Football Club, Pirelli Stadium.
