It’s one of the treasures of Burton on Trent but how many Burtonians visit it regularly and in fact, how many have been there even once?

If you’ve got a spare hour or so one weekend and you fancy a stroll in the countryside, there’s no need to drive for miles to see fields, flowers and wildlife.  Instead, just park up in the centre of Burton and wander into the haven that is Burton Washlands!

Burton Washlands is the area next to the River Trent that stretches approximately from the Trent Bridge to St.Peters Bridge. There are many different access points for the area including behind Burton Library, The Meadowside Centre, Stapenhill Gardens and St.Peters Bridge.

For anyone who hasn’t yet visited the Washlands but would like to see what they’re missing, here are some photos I took during a stroll there…
