From 1st April 2013, residents of Burton on Trent and East Staffordshire will have the option to pay their Council Tax over 12 monthly instalments within the same financial year.

If you receive a Council Tax bill in March for the full financial year, you will begin with an entitlement to pay that bill by 10 equal monthly instalments. From 1st April you can now choose to pay your Council Tax over 12 monthly instalments within the same financial year. So far, 453 Council Tax payers in East Staffordshire have asked for payments over 12 months rather than 10.

Councillor Bernard Peters, Deputy Leader for Service Commissioning, said: “As well as reducing our of the Council Tax by 1%, the Council is providing residents with the option to pay their Council Tax over 12 monthly instalments which will reduce the amount of Council Tax residents pay every month.

“I’m determined to do all I can to identify easier ways of paying Council Tax and the introduction of the 12 monthly instalment payment scheme is an example of this. Through the provision of this scheme, ESBC is clearly demonstrating its commitment to providing value for money for our services.”
