Reflexology which has its roots in ancient Egypt, according
to cave paintings, works on the principle that every
organ and system of the body has a corresponding
point in the feet. For example, the spot in the
centre of the big toe corresponds to the pituitary
gland, and on the ball of the foot underneath the
big toe there is a point that corresponds to the
thyroid and parathyroid glands.
What is it good for?
Reflexology can be used to treat a wide range of
disorders including skin and respiratory conditions,
migraine, PMS and menopausal problems, chronic fatigue,
stress, depression and anxiety.
What are the
benefits?
Reflexology can be used both to help with conditions
such as, for example, eczema, bronchitis or insomnia
for which the client is seeking immediate treatment; or
it can be used to keep the body’s energy flowing and
the mind in balance.

Aromatherapy is the art of applying essential oils to suit
individual needs. The oils work directly on the
chemistry of the body, via the skin and bloodstream.
Essential oils are extracts that contain the
substances that give plants their smell. They are
produced by tiny glands in the petals, leaves,
stems, bark and wood of many plants and trees. In
nature, they are released slowly, but when heated or
crushed, their oil glands burst, releasing the
plant's aroma more strongly.
What is it good for?
Aromatherapy massage can be used to treat a wide range
of conditions including stress, insomnia, rheumatoid
arthritis, asthma, diabetes, the muscle spasms and
general aches and pains associated with pregnancy, and
the mental and emotional problems associated with
cancer, Alzheimer’s disease and stroke as well as
physical illnesses.
What are the
benefits?
Massage relieves the symptoms of stiff, tired joints,
speeds up digestion and encourages improved
circulation, promotes relaxation and improved sleep.
Clients who have experienced this have said that they
feel relaxed, energised and that it has helped in some
way with their conditions.

Thermal
Auricularis Quite
different from conventional wax candles, a Hopi ear
candle is actually a cotton tube, impregnated with
beeswax, honey and therapeutic oils. The candles are
made from natural ingredients that include sage, St
John’s wort, camomile and beta-carotene. Otherwise
known as thermo-auricular therapy, the original
source of the technique seems to be from the native
American Indian tribe called the Hopis (meaning
‘peaceful people’).
What is it good for?
Hopi ear candles have reported success in treating
balance and inner ear problems, build up of wax,
ringing in the ears, tinnitus, hearing difficulties and
sinus problems as well as colds, ‘flu, sore throats,
stress, headaches and migraines. The treatment is
suitable for children and is a good alternative for
people who have found syringing
uncomfortable.
What are the
benefits?
Many clients find the treatment relaxing. As well as
the relieved feeling that comes from reduced pressure
in the ears and sinuses.

Swedish
Massage the skin's
natural functions will be stimulated improving the
condition of the skin and the warmth created will help
relax the body physically and mentally. Body massage
originated in Sweden. Swedish body massage is the
original massage technique involving a sequence of
movements working superficially and deeper into the
tissue layers. Movements such as effleurage work over
the skin with the palm of the hand producing relaxation,
whereas movements like petrissage work
deeply.
Petrissage movements such as
wringing and kneading will help to relieve tension
promoting deep relaxation in the tissues and
muscles.
As no two people are alike,
the body massage sequence will be adapted to the
client's needs. Massage may be offered in the salon for
one hour or half hour treatments, treatments may also be
described as back massage, stress massage.

the use of cleansing, toning and moisturising
preparations, followed by a soothing facial massage.

skin, a face mask may also be used to further
soothe, moisturise and exfoliate to remove dead skin
cells.
The preparations used at
all stages of a holistic facial treatment are chosen
to provide the maximum benefit to the client, and
the products used will be selected according to
whether the client has a dry, oily, combination,
mature or sensitive skin.
The client removes their
top and lies on the couch covered by towels. The
session involves a facial massage. The session last
for one hour.
