Customers will now be able to share their experiences of the centre on social networks, check emails or catch up on news and sports. All while having a freshly ground coffee or one of the fantastic items on our gold award healthy options menu in our “five star rate my place” café.

The new Wi-fi service is available from July 2013. Customers simply search for purple Wi-fi on any wireless-enabled smartphone, tablet or laptop and then input their chosen social network account login details when prompted. It really is that simple.

Alison Tanik, a regular user of the Meadowside who has championed the installation of the Wi-fi system said: “As a mother of two young children I am a frequent user of the Meadowside crèche. With time to spare waiting for the children I thought I would sit in the café and work through some emails; only to find that there was no internet connection. It seemed strange that such a large and much-used facility should have no free Wi-Fi, something which has become standard almost everywhere.

I decided to write directly to Andy O’Brien, Chief Executive of the Borough Council. Impressively, he replied immediately and the wheels of an amazing customer-focused process were set in place.

The process did take some time but both the staff at the Meadowside and Mr O’Brien regularly communicated with me to tell me of the progress they were making.  And now, a few months on, there is free Wi-Fi available at the Meadowside. Ten out of ten to all involved for listening to customers’ needs and doing it so very politely”.

Councillor Bernard Peters, Deputy Leader for Service Commissioning, said:
“As the Meadowside strives to achieve its customers’ expectations they have listened to feedback and have introduced this new service. By paying attention to their customers the team have made sure that the facility has continued to go from strength to strength by regularly introducing new and innovative equipment and activities to the centre’s programme.

Particular attention has been paid to the café area recently which has also had some new comfortable sofas providing the customers with that classic coffee shop experience”.
