Walking for Health aims to put a spring into the step of people living in the Burton area by welcoming back the Evening Health Walk on Tuesday 22nd April to Tuesday 16th September 2013. The group will meet at Stapenhill Hollows (car park behind St Peter’s Church), Stapenhill Road at 6.45pm.

The Walking for Health Scheme is funded by East Staffordshire Borough Council and supported by the Ramblers and MacMillan Cancer Support and the Walking for Health Committee. The Council joined the Healthy Borough/Healthy Cities programme in 2012, this partnership and provision is another example of the Council’s commitment to improving the health and wellbeing of the residents of East Staffordshire.

Councillor Robert Hardwick, Deputy Leader for Cultural Services, said: “The evening Health Walk will allow other residents, who maybe at work and are unable to attend the current daytime walks, to participate in the scheme.

“Walking is a great form of exercise that is easy, sociable and can improve your health. It’s currently recommended that you should aim to do 150 minutes of moderate physical activity a week. If you come along to a health walk, this can go some way towards this goal.  All Health Walks in East Staffordshire are free and open to anybody wanting to walk and explore the local community”.

If you would like to participate in the Health Walk turn up at the car park of Stapenhill Hollows, behind St Peters Church on Stapenhill Road from 6.30pm onwards to complete a short registration form.

We also offer other health walks during the daytime at Barton under Needwood, Yoxall, Tutbury, Stapenhill Gardens, Stretton, Meadowside Leisure Centre, Rolleston on Dove and Horninglow and Eton.
