Gardening Boldly Goes Where No Gardener Has Gone Before!

It’s time for East Staffordshire Borough Council’s annual Gardening Olympics event and this year we’ve gone to Space!

This popular free family event will take place on Saturday 29th June at Shobnall Leisure Complex in Burton upon Trent between 12pm and 4pm.

Come and see the Floral Hall where there will be space-themed displays of flowers, vegetables and artwork produced by local schoolchildren.  We will find out which local school will be crowned Gardening Olympics champion when we announce the winners live on stage in the Floral Hall at 1pm and give all our hard-working children, staff and parents the recognition that they deserve.

Councillor Patricia Ackroyd, Deputy Leader for Built Environment, said: “The Gardening Olympics is a well established event and project that has, for many years, been supporting local schools to try and encourage children and young people to grow their own vegetables, eat a healthy diet, exercise regularly and look after wildlife and the environment.

The event is a great community celebration of all the achievements of the children and young people involved”.

Outside you will find a whole host of entertainment with magic shows, laser tag, bouncy castles, face painters, plant stalls and laser clays.  All this family entertainment is free so why not come down for the afternoon with your family and friends and enjoy the show.

There will be sports activities taking place during the event where families can take part in sporting events and games.

Refreshments will be available and there is plenty of free parking on site, so why not come and spend the afternoon with us and have some fun.
