East Staffordshire Borough Council and Burton Town Centre Management are delighted to announce events planned for this summer in Burton as well as a survey to allow members of the public to inform us on what events they would like to see this Christmas.

Visitors to Burton Town Centre this summer will experience the best of a traditional seaside holiday with not one but two beaches in the Octagon and Coopers Square Shopping Centres in Burton by the Sea.

Events have started at Coopers Square and will continue up until Sunday 4th August. Shoppers and visitors can enjoy the indoor beach and activities hosted by their very own on duty lifeguards. Sit down and relax on the deck chairs or build a sandcastle with the equipment provided. Afterwards, you could be in with a chance of winning some great prizes by following the treasure trail around the centre.

The Octagon Centre beach will open on 10th August and will run through until 26th August. The Octagon Centre will up the ante with donkey rides and traditional Punch and Judy shows.

All of this will be complemented by a Town Centre Management event on the Market Place as Burton Splash Zone is introduced for the first time ever during August. Take the plunge with the first ever visit of the ‘Aqua Zorbs’ – think dodgems on the water and you won’t be far wrong. Cool off with cold drinks and ice cream from one of the cafes in the Market Place before visiting the number of other attractions to keep all ages entertained through the (hopefully) long and sunny summer holidays.

The Council and Burton Town Centre Management are also reviewing entertainment for the square at Christmas. Members of the public can let us know what they would like to see at Burton Market Square this Christmas by completing a simple survey.

To complete the survey please go to www.eaststaffsbc.gov.uk.

Councillor Liz Staples, Deputy Leader for Corporate Services, said: “The Council, working with our partners at Burton Town Centre Management, is committed to provide a range of activities in the town throughout the year. By asking the public what they really want, we can provide events and entertainment which will bring families into Burton Town Centre.”
