A truly international star jazz hits the stage at Burton’s National Brewery Centre on 3rd April, the concert, arranged as a collaboration between Eric Reynolds pianos and Jazz-on-Tap jazz club features Welsh pianist and composer Huw Warren.

Huw is known as one of the UK’s most individual and versatile creative forces with work crossing the divides between Jazz, Contemporary music and World Music. Winner of a BBC Jazz Award, Huw is known to many as co -founder of cult Brit jazzers “Perfect Houseplants” and regular arranger/musical director for contemporary folk singer June Tabor and Italian jazz vocalist Maria pia da Vito.

Previous collaborations include the welsh hymn project God only Knows/Duw a Wyr (with singer Lleuwen Steffan and saxophonist Mark Lockheart). This critically acclaimed reworking of hymns from the 1904-5 revival, was the subject of an S4C documentary, and culminated in Huw writing a new setting of Anne Griffiths’ text Rhosyn Saron for a TV performance in 2006. Huw has also performed with Andy Shepard, John Parricelli, Kenny Wheeler, Billy Bragg, Eddi Reader, Julian Arguelles and Tim Garland. As a composer Huw has been commissioned by Piano Circus, BBC, Scottish Chamber Orchestra, Welsh Chamber Orchestra, Tango Siempre, Palladian Ensemble and numerous festivals worldwide. Huw appears with bassist Paul Jefferies and drummer Zak Warren.

Tickets from the National Brewery Centre or Paul Jefferies on 07710 545555.

The lovely folks at Eric Reynolds are providing a gorgeous Yamaha grand piano for us to use for this very special concert. A real treat!!!
