Hatton Village Carnival is a lively and popular, free to all annual event and will take place on Saturday 13th July on Scropton Road Sports Ground now protected by ‘Queen Elizabeth ll Fields Challenge’ status. The carnival vibe is already alive and kicking and with a Royal baby due the same month what better way is there to celebrate.
New for 2013 THE GREAT HATTON CARNIVAL BAKE OFF (ETC!!!)

Introducing a new, open to all, fun country style competition to our carnival!! It will be a chance to show off your wares and prove how talented Hatton and our community are! We will have various groups and categories to enter, something for everyone and a group for the kids to have a go!

Anyone can enter more than one category, each entry will cost 30p.

Certificates will be awarded for first and second in each category and trophies will be awarded for ‘best in show’ in each group. Prizes will be awarded for first, second and third in all children’s categories, and a trophy for children’s ‘best in show’. Plus all the children will receive a lolly and a sticker for entering!

We aren’t having any strict rules, because it’s just for fun really, but to make it fair for everyone entering, no professionals are allowed to enter, and all items should be made by the exhibitor for this competition (no cheating by bringing your grannies crochet blanket from 50 years ago!!) So please get your thinking caps on (hand knitted obviously!), have a little look at the categories below, and
start crafting etc!! More details about entry forms etc to follow.

Don’t worry, we will have our very own ‘Mary Berry’ judges!

Give yourself plenty of time to get your masterpiece ready as the night before the carnival there will be a cracking night of live music, free to all. So once your buns are out of the oven come along to the marquee on the carnival field for some free Friday night footwork. Ever popular local band Embers will warm up the atmosphere as they play a wide range of covers from bang up to date tunes to
60’s party favourites with Dave O’Hara – Guitar, vocals and pedal board Stewart Cawson – Bass; Ben Brooks – Drums and cajon; Ellie Dawson (for acoustic nights) – Guitar, ukelele, vocals and egg
shakers!
Music continues to be the main theme as our parade of floats through the village on Saturday reflects a century of musicals. If you think you could fancy dress your way through Grease, South Pacific, Guys and Dolls, Lion King or Les Mis, and anything in between get in touch with our committee. We are offering £50 per float towards decorations and the best float gets a prize. The parade starts at midday with marching bands, vintage vehicles, dance groups and mascots creating a spectacular event through the centre of the village for everyone to see.

Entertainment continues on the field with live music, dancing, funfair, bouncy castles, slides, bungee trampolines, birds of prey, stunt teams, marching bands and dog shows. There will also be a range
of refreshments including a traditional tea tent and hog roast, and a BBQ provided by the local Scouts group.

Hatton is renowned for its community spirit, the Hatton Village Carnival is just one part of that. Funds raised from the carnival events are invested in a community fund which is donated to worthwhile
causes; from local residents needing support in times of need to capital spend on items to improve the environment. Past carnivals have proved to be an enormous success and we hope that you will join us in that success in 2013.
