Country Fair at the National Forest Adventure Farm

falconryThis May half term holiday the National Forest Adventure Farm, Burton on Trent, will be hosting its very own country fair. There will be nine days of shows and hands on activities including sheep shearing, sheep dog demonstrations, falconry displays, dog agility, blacksmith demonstrations and Shire horse plaiting and chain harrowing.

Young farmer Harry Fisher will be putting his dog, Spot, through his paces herding sheep and Wayne Chesterton from Falconry Experiences, Rosliston, will be demonstrating the flying skills of his birds of prey.

There will be lots to interest both children and adults as the Farm will be hosting Swadlincote Farmers’ Market and craft fair and children will be able to try wood turning on a traditional foot powered lathe and corn dolly making.

Tom Robinson, Director, National Forest Adventure Farm comments: “I have wanted to run a country fair at the Farm since we opened in 2011. I am pleased that we have brought together a range of shows and activities that demonstrate the skills and talents of people working in agriculture and the countryside.”

The National Forest Adventure Farm is a great family day out including animal encounters and outdoor and indoor play equipment.

‘Country Crafts Week’ runs from Saturday 24 May to Sunday 1 June 2014
