Burton Regatta

Saturday 13th and Sunday 14th July

Burton Regatta is a unique sporting event in the East Midlands.  The event is organised by the Burton Amateur Regatta Association and the two local rowing clubs in Burton upon Trent, Burton Leander Rowing Club and Trent Rowing Club.

Durham Regatta womens coxed 4s

Burton Regatta, first held in 1865, is one of the oldest annual sporting events in the country and is nationally recognised as one of the finest remaining river regattas.  Each year the event attracts competitors from all over the country to compete for a magnificent array of silver trophies which is itself one of the finest collections in the United Kingdom.

The traditional, highly competitive, “Oxford v Cambridge” type boat racing runs throughout the two day event on the beautiful River Trent running through Burton upon Trent’s unspoilt Regatta Meadows.

Saturday offers a course length of 1100 metres racing from the Leicester Line railway bridge to a point some 100 metres upstream of the Ferry footbridge.  Crews return the following day to compete over a 700 metre sprint course with the same finish line.  On the river bank visitors may find a wide range of traditional family entertainment.
