Eleven Parish Councils have started planning for their communities – time to get involved!

Eleven parishes have been given the green light to prepare new-style Neighbourhood Plans for their areas.

Last week, East Staffordshire Borough Council formally designated the areas covered by these parish councils as “Neighbourhood Areas”.

This means they can prepare Neighbourhood Plans for their local area. These Plans will set out policies that will be used by the Borough Council when deciding planning applications in that Parish. Sites for development can also be allocated in Neighbourhood Plans, and the Parish Council can identify the types of development or uses that will be preferred on the site.

Parish Councils will not be able to promote less development in their Neighbourhood Plans than is set out in the Borough’s Local Plan, but they should set out how the Local Plan will be delivered locally.

The eleven parish councils are:

Anglesey
Anslow
Branston
Horninglow & Eton
Newborough
Outwoods
Rolleston
Stapenhill
Stretton
Tatenhill
Uttoxeter Town Council

If you would like to help in bringing together one of these Neighbourhood Plans, please contact the relevant Parish Clerk – you can find their details by going to www.eaststaffsbc.gov.uk/Planning/PlanningPolicy/
